I had some log offcuts laying around and had seen some woodland carvings of mushrooms in the past, so decided to have a go at making a couple.
This is the one I have made to date photographed from 2 different angles.
I made it entirely with a chainsaw, simply drawing a basic shape around the log and shaping with the chainsaw carefully.
It took me about 30 minutes to make to this standard you can see in the photos, however I do plan to smooth it down with a power sander and maybe then give it a coat of sealant.
It has certainly created an interest by passers by, neighbours and even the post lady who have all made favourable comments and I have several orders secured already.
As far as the design is concerned, I tried to imitate a cepe mushroom which is local to where I live in I live in South West France, Lot et Garonne, Dordogne region.
They usually appear in October/ November about 11 days after the first real rains of the autumn.
I certainly enjoyed making this one and will be making more just as soon as I've sharpened the chainsaw.
